3D Shapes Anchor Charts

We have been talking about 3D shapes in my class for a while now, but I'm just now getting around to blogging about it! :)

Here's the anchor charts we make:

I draw a picture of it.  Write it's name, and then we list characteristics:  What shape do you see if you trace it?  How many edges?  faces? corners?  And then my Kinders use post-its to draw their own version of a real life  3D shape  (ice cubes, party hats, kickballs, cans of soup, etc.)

There you have it!  3D shapes on anchor charts!

My question:  Spring break plans?  Where did/will you go, what did/will you do?  I'm on mine this week- and it's consisting of:  dentist visits (for me and my 4 yr old), painting backdrops for the school musical, and then a whole lot of relaxing and reading The Hunger Games.  I'm on like page 30 of the first books.  It's getting good! :)  I've got a 2 yr old and a 4 yr old- so we wont do any big vacations until they get a bit bigger!!

  1. Hi! My name is Lacey and I'm a fellow teacher-blogger. :) I'm having a linky party for anchor charts, but there's a twist. I'm going to compile the pictures (complete with sources) into a PDF and offer it for free. I LOVE your blog and your charts and was hoping you would join me in this project! If you don't want to take the time to link up, I completely understand. But if you would be willing for me to include your charts I'd be happy to find the posts on your blog myself, but didn't want to do so and include them without permission. Like I said, there would be a link to the post I found the picture and full credit to you.

Let me know your thoughts! Here is the post for the linky party: http://wildaboutteaching10.blogspot.com/2012/03/calling-all-anchor-charts.html

Thanks for your contributions to the teacher blog community! :) I love seeing what you're doing in your classroom!

  2. Nice anchor charts. I hope you enjoy The Hunger Games. They're hard to put down. My spring break is all about report cards, piles of school stuff, and giving some attention to this house - inside and out.

  3. We are NOT going ANYWHERE!
They are happy to spend the time with their neighborhood friends (we don't live in our zone so they don't go to school with the neighborhood children)

We are going out of town for the Easter weekend and the hotel has pool- so i am not feeling so bad about staying home....sometimes it is NOT a vacation because of all the work involved!!
Mine are older now- youngest is 8...so it is a bit easier...but I am all about being home, a ponytail, no make up, and no school!
